Intellectual Rights Property (IPR) Webinar

TTBDO, in coordination with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), conducted the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Protection Webinar last 08 June 2021 to increase the awareness of UP Min researchers on their intellectual property rights. Specifically, the objective of the event is to define different intellectual property rights (IPRs) and to discuss the application processes and fees of protecting different IPRs.
Resource persons from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) were invited to orient about the rights and opportunities our researchers could have for their outputs. Engr. John Paul Yu and Ms. Ann Marah Mencidor-Lacre, IP Field Operations Specialists, talked about patents, utility models, industrial designs, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, geographical indications, and IP Protection application processes and fees. Along with the guest speakers, Ms. Dyle Legaspi, and Ms. Lynda Buenaobra also gave a presentation about the IP System, IP as a business asset, IP in Academia, and the University Technology Transfer.
This event had a total of 34 participants from the different departments and research projects of the university including the Department of Food Science and Chemistry (DFSC), Department of Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies (DBSES), Philippine Genome Center Mindanao (PGC Min), and Lactic Acid Technology, among others.
