Prior Art Seach (PAS) Tutorial

A 2-day Prior Art Search (PAS) Tutorial for TTBDO staff and its project personnel was held via Zoom last 6-7 May 2021. This activity helps the TTBDO personnel to enhance the skill to mastery using the different online database namely Espacenet Patent Search, USPTO PatFT/AppFT Search, WIPO PatentScope, IPOPHIL PhilPat, and Derwent Innovation Patent, which the TTBDO recently subscribed to, and to be able to endorse the importance of investigating the inventiveness and innovativeness of claimed intellectual properties through PAS and how to actualize prior art search effectively.
TTBDO invited Engr. Filman Simpao, Project Leader of SUSTAIN IP-TBM Project 6 and the Director of KTTO of the University of Southeastern Philippines, as a guest speaker and mentor, who guided the 12 TTBDO personnel in the 2-day event. In order to assess the acquired knowledge from the 1st day of the tutorial, the participants were given an assigned topic to which they conducted a prior art search. Upon presentation, 4 of the research outputs were found to have a potential for protection.
