Davao de Oro - Establishment of the Regional Innovation Hub in Davao Region

The UP Mindanao TTBDO team traveled to the province of Davao de Oro and visited the Office of the Congressman and the Office of the Governor. The goal of the visit is to present the UP Mindanao KIST Park to the stakeholders of the province and gain their support to establish a regional innovation hub in the Davao Region.
The team first approached Hon. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, 2nd District Representative of Davao de Oro, together with Board Member Rowena Gonzaga. The team presented the plans for the KIST park and the pending bills related to the establishment of the S&T park. Congressman Gonzaga expressed his appreciation and interest in supporting the project. He requested the housebill no. for his office to review and study the bills in the possibility in co-authoring the first bill which is on the "Establishment of the Guidelines and Incentives for the Development of S&T Park in the Philippines", and co-sponsoring the second bill which is on the "Establishment of Techno-Park Development Funds for S&T Park Infrastructure Development" with a principal congressman.
The TTBDO also visited the Davao de Oro Provincial Capitol and was welcomed by the Acting Assistant Provincial Administrator Grace Almedilla and James Dela Cruz, the Business Development Section Head of the Local Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Office. The discussion centered on requesting assistance in obtaining a comprehensive list of industries and companies for business matching and identification of potential business locators in the UP Mindanao KIST Park. It was also discussed during the meeting the plan of co-organizing an Academe-Industry Knowledge Sharing Summit with the Davao de Oro Provincial Government.
