Agham+Sining:UP Innovation and Knowledge Festival 2022

Last November 28-29, 2022, UP Mindanao showcased its research outputs at the “Agham+Sining: UP Innovation and Knowledge Festival 2022,” a two-day event of UP’s creative work, research projects, and technological innovations at the UP Bonifacio Global City.
Day 1: Innovative technologies across all UP Constituent Universities were showcased. Ceremonial signing with various partners from the industry and the government were held.These include the signing of memorandum of understanding for “DiWa,” Disease Watch Web Application between UP Mindanao and the Department of Health - Davao City Region during the plenary session "Sealing the Future: UP Partners with the Industry."
Day 2: They arepresention with various research and innovative works which address social and economic issues. One of which is Dr. Melvin Pasaporte, from UPMin TTBDO Lactic Acid Technology.
Lactic Acid developed a technology that can produce Lactic Acid directly from starch in just 24 hours at room temperature. The new and improved process is more efficient cost-effective environmentally friendly and has several industrial applications in Polymer, Personal care, Food & beverages, Solvent, and Other industrial use. UPMin Lactic Acid team is aiming now to produce Polymer Lactic Acid (PLA), which is benificial for agriculture, packaging, 3d printing, medicine, textile, electronics.
