The process began in August 2024 with a workshop to assess the initial feasibility of the KIST Park and optimize its potential benefits of five core initiatives of the KIST Park project: ARK & TechBridge IT Park, Biotechnology Innovation Center, Food Processing Plant, Translational Omics Research and Collaborative Hub (TORCH), and the Start-Up Innovation Hub. These initiatives aim to advance key sectors such as AI, biotechnology, food science, and the startup ecosystem. This was followed by consultations with experts based on the outputs of the workshop.
Primary data was also gathered from the general public, the academic community, and compliant informal settlers to assess their awareness, interest, and approval of the project. Secondary data, including market pricesย along with an extensive literature review, were used to monetize various costs and benefits associated with each initiative.ย
The next steps involve an external review, subsequent revisions, and eventual submissions to regulatory bodies like the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).
